This guide is for the adults running the session.
A 40-minute session. Kids invent on paper, Make Day AI writes the code, and the kids learn how it works by changing it. There are six labs: ๐ฎ Games, ๐ต Sounds, ๐ฑ Apps, ๐ Websites, ๐ Stories and ๐จ Art. Every creation comes with sliders, a "How it works" card and power-ups written for it, so learning is built into playing.
Kids fill in the worksheet and draw. No real names on paper. Short on time? Skip the paper and type the idea, or press ๐ฒ Surprise me.
On the tablet: type the class code and tap their age (the only thing the lab asks: it pitches words, difficulty and how deep the coding lessons go), pick a lab, snap a photo of the worksheet (or type the idea), then tap โ๏ธ Cut out on the photo and drag a box around their hero (and a baddie, friend or thing): their own drawing goes into the creation. Rules written on the paper are followed too. Pick a look if they like, then Build. A build takes about a minute while kids watch the code being written; then the AI test-plays it for a few seconds and fixes any bug it finds.
Anything goes, including 3D worlds and first-person games (friendly blasters only: water, paint, snowballs). Under ๐ฅ Who's playing? kids can choose 2 players on one tablet, or friends online: the host taps ๐ Invite a friend and shows a 4-letter code, and friends tap ๐ Join a friend's game. Up to 4 players, in the same class only, game moves only.
Tip for good cut-outs: dark outlines on plain white paper, a photo taken straight on in good light, and a box drawn snugly around one drawing.
Everyone opens ๐๏ธ Tweak. Each slider is a variable in the code. Kids change speed, gravity, tempo or colours and see what happens. Sliders are free and unlimited.
Kids open ๐ง Learn โ ๐ Take a tour of your code. The tour walks them through 4โ6 parts of their own code (the settings, the loop, an IF, the tap or key that makes things happen), highlighting each line with a short explanation. Anywhere in ๐ Code, tapping a line asks the AI what it does.
Each tour step ends with a โ๏ธ Try it suggestion ("Change 12 to 25 to jump higher"). Kids press it, edit the real code and press โถ Run my code. If it breaks, the bug catcher shows the error: let them try to fix it before pressing ๐ง Fix it. Then one โก power-up, and โจ See the code that changed shows exactly which lines the AI added. โฉ๏ธ Undo if it got worse. That's testing!
Everything kids make goes to the Arcade by itself once its words pass the automatic check (with Arcade review on, approve entries in Teacher controls first). Pick two or three to demo. For a Sound Lab rap battle, play the beat on the projector and let the class perform the lyrics.
Then ๐ค Show it off: each kid gets a QR code that a grown-up scans at pickup to play the creation at home for 30 days, or saves it as a file. In Teacher controls, ๐ Copy all links gives you every link from the session to send to parents through your usual channel.
| ๐ฆ Variable | A named box that remembers a value, like score = 5. Every slider is one. |
| ๐ Loop | Code that repeats. Games redraw the screen about 60 times a second. |
| ๐ If | A choice: IF the cat touches a star, add 1 to the score. |
| ๐ Event | Something that happens (a tap, a key) that the code reacts to. |
| ๐ฅ Collision | Checking whether two things are touching. |
| ใฐ๏ธ Frequency | How fast a sound wave wiggles. Faster means a higher note, measured in Hertz. |
| ๐ฅ Tempo | How fast music goes, in beats per minute (BPM). |
| ๐ค Rhyme & syllables | Rap battles colour rhyming words to match. Clap the syllables to stay on the beat. |
| ๐ง State | Everything an app remembers right now, like a pet's hunger. |
| ๐ท๏ธ Tag & style | Websites are built from tags like <h1> and <nav>; CSS styles say how they look. |
| ๐ Network & message | Online games send small messages ("I moved to x = 120") between tablets; the host keeps everyone's screen the same. |
| ๐ง 3D & camera | 3D games place everything with x, y and z, and the camera is the eye you see through. |
| ๐ฆ Symmetry & angle | Art Lab patterns use maths: mirror halves, turns measured in degrees, colours from numbers. |
